Denise Gee Peacock is AATTAP’s Project Coordinator for Publications, Digital/Social Media & Special Projects.

As managing editor of The AMBER Advocate, she writes, photographs, edits, and designs each quarterly magazine while overseeing the work of two Communications Associates. She also curates and updates content for both The AMBER Advocate and AMBER Alert in Indian Country websites and AATTAP’s social media platforms.

Prior to joining NCJTC full-time in 2022, Denise was a communications-focused NCJTC Associate from 2018 to 2022, providing compelling content to The AMBER Advocate, writing high-level AATTAP and AIIC reports, and helping update the new multimedia edition of When Your Child is Missing: A Family Survival Guide.

From 2010 to 2018, Denise was Media Relations Manager for Southern Methodist University in Dallas. She helped the subject matter experts within SMU’s Dedman School of Law, Human Rights Program, Maguire School of Ethics, Perkins School of Theology, and the Texas-Mexico Program garner unprecedented publicity in the U.S. and abroad.

In 2018 Denise won the International Circle of Excellence Gold Award from the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) for her work on the sensitively written and designed book, No Resting Place: Holocaust Poland, produced for SMU. She also helped SMU win several national CASE awards for “Best Practices in Marketing and Communications.”

Prior to her education-focused marketing and communications career, Denise was Editorial Director for Media News Group’s 200+ specialty publications/websites across the U.S., including The Denver Post, Los Angeles Daily News, and Salt Lake City Tribune. She also served as a senior editor for the magazines Better Homes and Gardens and Southern Living, and was managing editor of Coastal Living.

Denise holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from Louisiana State University. And while at SMU, she received grants to study in Germany, France, and Poland. She has written seven books for national publishers.
