David Chewiwie has been with AMBER Alert in Indian Country team since 2021 and is a Project Coordinator.  David is a proud tribal member of the Pueblo of Isleta tribe in New Mexico, currently living in Southern California, and he is a United States Marine Corps veteran. David’s 32-year career in law enforcement included assignments in Patrol, Investigations, and Supervision. David retired from law enforcement in 2018 and spent an additional five years working in Search and Rescue. Also, upon retirement, David was hired by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC), as a member of Team Adam. In 2019, David began assisting Native Communities and families in searching for their missing Native relatives, through his Native Missing Network, which provided consultation, training, resources, and in some cases, actual search assistance. David has also used his extensive training and experience to find missing children, as well as assist and guide law enforcement and other agencies and organizations, in their searches for critical missing and abducted children, as well as long-term missing children. His work in Indian Country has been the highlight of his extensive career and he looks forward to continued service to Native communities, in the future.
