This issue celebrates the 50th edition of The AMBER Advocate and marks the safe recovery of 1,114 children through AMBER Alerts as of May 1, 2022. AATTAP Administrator Janell Rasmussen reflects on her first year, highlighting the shift to virtual training during the COVID-19 pandemic and the success of the first virtual Family Roundtable. The 2022 Virtual Symposium explores topics including technology, genetic genealogy, child sex trafficking, and the crisis of missing and murdered Indigenous women and children. Family survivor Amy Bloxom shares her son Justin’s story, emphasizing the dangers of online grooming and the “adultification” of child victims. A multi-state AMBER/Ashanti Alert involving Tennessee, Arizona, and California leads to the safe recovery of Noah and Jacob Clare, thanks to a citizen tip, and inspires the signing of “Noah’s Law” in Tennessee to improve custodial alert procedures. Washington launches the first Indigenous Alert system in the U.S., and Oklahoma AMBER Alert Coordinator Captain Ronnie Hampton is profiled for his “all-hands-on-deck” approach and use of Wireless Emergency Alerts to drive successful recoveries.
