AMBER Advocate Magazine
Issue 40
This issue highlights the strong collaboration between U.S. and Tribal law enforcement, featuring Pamela Foster, mother of Ashlynne Mike, who advocates for equal protections for Native American children through the Ashlynne Mike AMBER Alert in Indian Country Act. At a symposium with representatives from 22 tribes across 34 states, New Mexico is recognized as the first state to achieve full AMBER Alert access for all its tribes. Coordinators Tanea Parmenter of Idaho and Bill Smith of Kansas stress the importance of emotional commitment, evolving technology, and strong partnerships in successful recoveries. Internationally, alert systems continue to expand, with the Bahamas launching its MARCO Alert and Brisbane, Australia, beginning to display AMBER Alerts on outdoor signs.
