Hey Melissa , There could be three different types of debrief . One could be the tactical debrief that occurs very soon after conclusion of the event . This type would be an immediate review of what went right and what went wrong and a general discussion of the event . The after action document is usually the end product of this type of debrief . These tactical debriefs usually occur after any major criminal occurrence in which significant resources are activated . The second type of debrief occurs in front of the AMBER oversight committee usually a week or two after the activation of the AMBER Alert . The purpose of this discussion is to see what worked well and what did not and to confirm the AMBER criteria was met and the activation was appropriate . It usually focuses on just the AMBER Alert activation while the tactical debrief focuses on entire operation . The third type is the psychological debrief which addresses personnel who may need a little help dealing with the intensity of the event . Hope this helps and I imagine will help generate some feedback.
Gus PaidousisParticipantIt has been my experience in TN that usually the on call person is not compensated for being on call . Some agencies will start your clock if a physical response occurs . Many agencies try to either use senior/exempt staff or allow for comp time or flexibility in normal shift . However it still only occurs if an actual response is warranted . Not too many folks get on call pay that I am aware of , Particularly in Southern U.S.
Gus PaidousisParticipantMam , All of the 23 certified CART’s should have some large scale mock activation scenarios as they must put one on to become certified . You may have some luck looking thru the partner portal and reaching out to some of the Florida folks and see if they will send you one . Seven of the 23 certified CART’s are in Florida . Hope this helps and if no luck feel free to reach out to me and I will see if I can help. [email protected]
Gus PaidousisParticipantThanks scott . As agencies create more types and levels of alerts , Practice and debriefs become even more critical . Even with AMBER Alerts some states do not have many activations . We really stress the need to have a regular practice and testing schedule involving different shifts and all levels of personnel.
