From Gus Paidousis, Region 2 Liaison:  Do you feel your program is part of a larger, comprehensive child recovery strategy in your state/area? If so, what is a key strength of that strategy? What is an area needing improvement?

Our strength would be small turnover. Most of my staff have been in place for multiple years which allows for consistency. Our area that needs the most improvement is our alert activation system. We currently have four alert types and are looking at adding a fifth (Adult Abduction Alert). The biggest problem is all of our alerts are activated differently which makes efficiency difficult, especially for alerts that are not as frequent. We are looking at implementing a solution that is interactive with the requesting agency and basically works identical for all alerts with exception of AMBER Alerts with the Radio/Television breaks and WEA.

We are looking at sending out a short survey monkey to see what other agencies are using or if they are also looking at upgrades. Any feedback on what your agency uses, vendor (in house or outsourced), and brief description of how it works would be greatly appreciated along with contact information. It can be emailed to me at [email protected].

Thanks scott . As agencies create more types and levels of alerts , Practice and debriefs become even more critical . Even with AMBER Alerts some states do not have many activations . We really stress the need to have a regular practice and testing schedule involving different shifts and all levels of personnel.
