At a crime prevention seminar in Ontario, Canada, New York State Trooper Sayeh Rivazfar shared her story of how her mother's former boyfriend brutally attacked her when she was 8 years old and killed her 6-year-old sister, Sara. She asked the 210 police officers, social service workers, parole officers, and daycare workers at the October conference to remember they are helping children, not just being assigned a file number. Rivazfar said efforts to prevent child abductions have improved, but more needs to be done.
