Hey Julie,
We also use the VCC for alot of our tip management. We also have an email account associated with our missing unit and we will disseminate tips that come in. We operate out of our Fusion Center and work on on-call teams. We will take the calls, vet them and then pass them to a distro list that is created upon issuing the alert. We only utilize the VCC when there is a heavy volume of tips. IF you have any additional questions about our process, I am happy to get with you directly.

Emily KeiferParticipanteHey Ben,
Here in Tennessee, we use NCMEC to distribute our WEA messages for AMBER Alerts. We work directly with FEMA/ IPAWS for our Blue Alerts and all other alerts are distributed to local media through our PIOs. Our Partnership with NCMEC is great and we also worked with California to create a bitly hyperlink for our alerts that is sent in our WEA message, where users can click the hyperlink and it directs them to our Twitter page that contains all the details of the alert that was issued.
Best,
EmilyEmily KeiferParticipanteTennessee is the same as Missouri, we do not have a time restriction, but we issued 4 in 2019. This year, however, we have already had 4 issued, leading us to believe we will likely surpass last years total. Like everywhere, we do get some negative feedback for issuing in the middle of the night, but it is amazing the volume of tips/leads we still receive in the middle of the night.
Emily KeiferParticipanteEd,
I’d really be interested in hearing how your agency incorporated the use of urls. Tennessee has considered doing this but the primary driver for the initiative has been deployed with the military for 3 years. I’d love to have this in place before he returns (bragging rights). If you have a Best Practices document, that would really be great. Any information that you can provide will be helpful and appreciated. -
