    Good morning Coordinators, I have received a public records request from USA Today, wanting details on prior activations including name, photo, all information on the child and text that was released. I am wanting to see, what level of protection of privacy should we be affording these juveniles that have been recovered alive and moving on with their lives. I am not sure how USA Today plans to release this info, but I feel like I shouldn’t be releasing PII.

    My AG is currently reviewing, but I would like to get an understanding of what your state does in these situations.

    New York has not received this request as of yet. I would not respond with any information other Than Carly has pointed at in her emails.

    Missouri also received the request and is seeking similar clarification from legal counsel. No determination has been reached on what will be released at this point.

    My legal council is comfortable with releasing everything except any photos or PII. The only difference is that in Idaho, you have to redact everything except the minor’s initials and the year of their DOB. For example,

    NC I RECEIVED THE SAME REQUEST AND SENT ONLY THE NAME DATE CITY AND COUNTY.
    SHE SENT ANOTHER REQUEST FOR THE SAME INFORMATION AGAIN TODAY.

    I’M ABOUT TO CALL HER AND SEE WHAT I CAN FIND OUT. SHE CAN GOGGLE ???????

    Our public disclosure person has determined that any information that went out at the time of the alert is public information, including photos and other information and thus is fully disclosable.

    We have already replied to them. We cannot release this information, it will have to come from our legal department thru a public records request.
